羅伯特·彭斯（1759—1796），蘇格蘭詩人，生於貧苦的農民家庭，母親是民族歌手。他自幼受家庭薰陶，熱愛蘇格蘭民族及其古老的傳說。他蒐集、整理了蘇格蘭民歌，並用蘇格蘭方言寫成兩個集子，共收錄自己創作的民歌268首。其中最著名的《往昔的時光》、《穿過黑麥地》等，均是英語詩歌的瑰寶，至今仍在英語國家和一些非英語國家傳誦。
